Contrast to Azure who despite their SLA had significant outages every few months that were very noticeable, sometimes even requiring us setting up an entire new K8s project from scratch. AWS is better in terms of reliability. Their UX is not great though, I often feel like I'm a wizard waving my wand with permissions and connecting things like audit trails. Many actions are a bit delayed in their effect. I've also had to contact support at times to raise arbitrary limits in the platform.
In balance I would recommend GCP. Their product closures have not affected me enough to scare me away. I guess experiences vary depending on which product we are using.

It really worked unexpectedly well, I've heard a lot of skepticism and I don't know how things are at VanMoof but if the will is there it really works

Our startup https://fraudio.com is bringing the latest AI technology to the finance and payments sector and is looking to disrupt it. We use cutting-edge technology and research-driven techniques to create tools that productionize AI for our clients, to combat various illicit activites such as transaction fraud, merchant fraud and money laundering.
Fraudio is currently comprised of around 25 people from many countries and cultures, which we believe is a strength. We promote transparency, ownership, collaboration, continuous improvement, quality, and having fun while working together. Our headquarters is in Amsterdam but we have a presence in Portugal, the UK, Italy and Spain. We are at a stage where our product is already in production and we are looking to expand it to a full SaaS product.
We are looking for a software infrastructure engineer who can help us expand our scalable, cloud-first infrastructure. We are also looking for a data engineer who can help us process raw data of variable quality from many sources and stream it into a robust central data set that we can use for feature engineering. Since we are a start-up you will wear many other hats apart from this focus and we expect a solid software engineering background.
Our tech stack is: Scala, Python, Spark, Kafka, Postgres, Kubernetes, GCP, GitLab.
Please apply via LinkedIn (EU timezones only). We review applications regularly over the next month(s) and you can expect a response roughly within a week.

jodiug | 12 years ago | on: An easy way to share files P2P, and how it works
It's a great way to get files from one place to the other. The (encrypted) data does not go via a server, making this potentially the fastest, most scalable and safest type of file transfer available in a browser. One of the extra perks is that sharing files on a local network becomes really really fast. It's miles ahead
Props to the devs for making this! :)
It does depend on SQLAlchemy. Can this also be used with asyncpg? Is it on the roadmap?
