Actually, no, as I will repeat, his link has nothing to do with what we're talking about.
I'm not new here. Been coming here since forever. Just have to get a new account every time I get fed up with near-Reddit like posts and type something. Just like now.

Funny. I just finished re-watching "Julie and Julia" before I sat here and saw this.

Interesting. I'm talking about when the "don't talk about salary" rule was passed. His reply is a link to an article about when the Labor Relations board was established and I got downvoted?

Yes it has been but that has nothing to do with what we're talking about.

At a glance, it looks like that changed just in April, 2014.

In all my decades of working, I always thought my employer would fire me if he knew I was discussing my pay with others. I know I was told that could happen more than once in my early years so I don't know why Google would be any different and I perfectly understand why such discussions should not take place.

Haven't a clue what you mean. I run several mail servers and have no issues whatsoever with GMail. And I run through all the spam filtering, too, and only recall one that was inadvertently marked as spam but, iirc, the mailer was the problem.

Having worked from home for 11 years, it's no advantage. As much as possible, I try to divide the time between home office and somewhere else quiet cause, eventually, something needs to be done at home and ruins the rest of the day. The dog, the wife, the leaky faucet. It's something every day.

I would not expect less of any company and any company that didn't do so will die.

And the most expensive ads are Super Bowl ads as the TV networks aggressively force the hands ...
So, iow, business as usual.

on: Just Got Out of Prison. Now What?
I find these articles interesting but get disturbed when the titles typically point the finger at me but, I have never been arrested, or in prison, and know no one who has ever been in such a situation in my 63 years of living.
I am not in a closet or a holy roller either; nor are any of my friends or family. I live in a mid-sized city and grew up middle-class, became poor when out on my own, and am now well off.
I would never put myself in such a situation to shame myself or my family or harm others. But I was brought up that way.

You are ignoring the vast majority of users, most of whom aren't on HN or reddit, who don't want such control over their systems and just want them to do what they want and reliably so. Apple fulfills that need and does an excellent job of it.
Note: I own no Apple products except for an original iPad given to me on my birthday. I built my own systems from scratch, as a former electronic engineer, and create web sites on FreeBSD.

In the 11 years I've been a web developer, there is not a test where someone disses it for all the reasons you give, no matter who created it, including caniuse.com.
However, I would never take anything you say, Boris, with a grain of salt. Especially since, about 8 years ago, you tried to recruit me to work on Firefox ;)

Define worse. There's an advantage to "vendor lock-in" in that having control over the whole product gives you advantages others won't have. It allows you to make guarantees others won't, too. Apple can warrant the hardware and software but Microsoft never will, for example.
