One thing that helps me to focus on the task at hand is using Promodoro timers: 25 minutes focussed work, then 5 minutes break.

More generally, if distractions are bothering you or are making you nervous, I would recommend meditation. Meditation is the practice of focussing on the present. Try the waking up app (https://wakingup.com/), it is a good reason-based introduction to the practice and theory of meditation.

> 95. Some types of sophistication won’t make you enjoy the object more, they’ll make you enjoy it less. For example, wine snobs don’t enjoy wine twice as much as you, they’re more keenly aware of how most wine isn’t good enough. Avoid sophistication that diminishes your enjoyment.

I disagree with this one. Even though sophistication means that one cannot enjoy bad wine/music/art/food as much, it also is the condition for having a full appreciation of the work of art you are enjoying.

this article fails to point out that one of the great advantages of vim is universal accessibility. while atom, sublime, textmate are probably more user-friendly and can emulate a lot of vim functionality, they are not as flexible and environment-independent.

to me, the beauty of vim is that I can use it anywhere with minmal set-up or privileges (e.g. root).
