At Cookpad we're building a community platform for people to share recipe ideas and cooking tips. Because we believe that cooking is the key to a happier and healthier life for people, communities and the planet.

Join us, and several Ruby and Rails core team members as we build a team of diverse, exceptional problem-solvers from around the world. We only hire passionate, smart and innovative people who want to make a difference. Cookpad started out in Japan and is already the largest recipe sharing community in the world with nearly 4 million recipes created by users active in 60 countries.

But we’re only just getting started.

We’ve just set up our international HQ in the UK. Here we operate as a start-up with global ambition. We work in small, collaborative teams and in a creative, fast-paced environment.

We’re having such a drive in the UK, and my wife is working on the project. It’s called 100,000 genomes and aims to sequence the whole genome of 70,000 patients with rare disease or cancer (the other 30,000 genomes are from tumors), and their families. The ethics of consent and the possibility of incidental findings are all being taken into account.

Even better, popping up a JS alert stops further JS execution, so this was a clever way for Github to throttle connections (rather than them being made every 2 seconds as per the hijacked Baidu JS)
