==================================
My name is Luke and I'm a full-stack developer with 15 years experience, specialising in JavaScript applications using React, Angular and Backbone and backend applications using Rails and Go with PostgreSQL, Cassandra and Redis as the datastore(s).
For the past five years I've been running my consulting company through which with the help of my team we have delivered many projects - see my website for a selection at http://sketchconsulting.com/. This project has now come to an end and I am looking for future work.
I am best suited to medium sized companies who want to move fast while also requiring high quality development to a fixed deadline. My background in open source has taught me that sloppy application architecture is not acceptable.

For the past five years I've been running my consulting company through which with the help of my team we have delivered many projects - see my website for a selection at http://sketchconsulting.com/, though please contact me with a description of your project and I will be able to show you more relevant work.
Currently I am available for either solo work or as part of a two man team with my dev partner who is also full-stack with similar skills and has good CSS, design and UX abilities. I am best suited to medium sized companies who want to move fast while also requiring high quality development to a fixed deadline. My background in open source has taught me that sloppy application architecture is not acceptable.
We both are available from the 9th May and are happy to offer some discount for short term work.

We are a team of three experienced developers all with full stack experience. We usually work with Ruby, Rails, JS (Angular, Ember, Backbone), CSS (LESS, SASS), AWS and Chef. One of us is also a designer, so we can handle UX and design when necessary.
Our focus is on quality, building well tested applications with fast, responsive UI. We specialise in redeveloping applications for companies looking to make the step from MVP to something solid, scalable and maintainable. We're not the cheapest, but we are amongst the best.

Developer with 11 years professional experience. I would say expert level with Ruby on Rails, JS, CSS and comfortable with AWS and other systems level technologies. Essentially full stack, able to work on any part of a web app.
Recently I work as a team with two other experienced developers to deliver large projects. Our focus is on quality while being fast and keeping to an agreed development timeline. We work best when taking whole projects, such as redeveloping an existing site, creating a new site, or service to be used with your existing platform.
We are all full stack developers with recent experience of client side applications using Backbone and Angular, CSS using Bootstrap, LESS and SASS, Rails 4 and hosting on AWS using Chef. One of us is/was a designer, so we can turn rough wireframes into something that looks good and is slick to use.

Over my 12 years as a developer I have completed countless web applications for companies ranging from small startups to established companies building new products.
My top priorities are to deliver projects on time and on budget, with clean, maintainable and sensibility tested code.
I am comfortable across the whole stack, using mostly Rails, LESS/SASS and jQuery/Spine/Backbone to deliver rich, responsive sites. Recently I have started working with two additional excellent developers, so can deliver larger projects if required.
I tend to work either for companies building a new application but lack the man power internally, or new companies seeking to develop the initial version of their product.
Contact me at [email protected] and I can provide further details.

Developer required to help me build the front end components of a new and relatively small project. We will use Ember JS with CoffeeScript and jQuery, so familiarity with some client side JS frameworks is essential.
Project should require around 30 days over 2 months and can be done part time.
I have a strong preference for clean, well structured and well tested code. And a preference for developers who can hit their own estimates.
Email in my profile.

Developing professionally for 12 years. I prefer to build new web applications and lead the projects as they scale. Suited to working with companies wanting to build new projects or redevelop existing ones.
I have a strong focus on application architecture and create neat, stable and maintainable JS, CSS and backend code. I use tests to ensure features are solid don't break once built.
My tools of choice are Ruby on Rails with Postgres, CSS using LESS or SCSS and JS using jQuery, Spine.JS and CoffeeScript. RSpec and Cucumber for testing.
Email me at [email protected] for some descriptions of recent projects and my rate.

We are a small web development team mainly focused on Ruby/Rails, along with expertise across the rest of the stack - CoffeeScript, Spine.js, SASS, LESS, Chef, PostgreSQL, Redis etc. We have domain expertise integrating with external APIs such as LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter, and also in handling high load both in terms of web traffic and background processing with Sidekiq or Resque.
We are a whole team who work well together. We can either integrate to your existing dev team or take and implement a standalone project. As many of us are overseas (China, Ireland) we are less expensive than many other development companies (£400 - £500 / day or potentially £55k / year per developer depending on project length, size of team etc).
I personally am based in London and have 12 years professional development experience. If you would like details on projects we have done as a team, just send me a quick email.
lukes | 14 years ago | on: Have you ever been asked “What is your biggest weakness?”
The only thing the interviewer learned was that I knew how to answer that question. However I learned that the interviewer was not someone I wanted to work for.
The downsides to asking that question far outweigh the benefits. An interviewer should be trying to give a good impression of themselves as well as finding out about the candidate and this question does the opposite.
lukes | 14 years ago | on: Interview Programming Problems Done Right
That said, for the first time in my career I was given a test to do and that seemed to be specifically designed to see how well I could architect code and yet I still screwed it up. That might show that I'm a bad programmer, or it might show that it's dangerous to use a short test to generalise about someone's ability.
I like to take jobs on a contract basis, that way there's less risk for the clients as they can cut me whenever if it doesn't work. As a result of that the interview process is usually pretty quick and informal and I can show on a day to day basis that I am good at what I do.

We said we'd move to the Valley if we were accepted to YC this winter, but I think the culture over there might be reason enough to do it regardless.

For the past five years I've been running my consulting company through which with the help of my team we have delivered many projects - see my website for a selection at http://sketchconsulting.com/. During this time and for some years prior I've acted as the lead developer on countless projects and can help deliver projects on time with minimal bugs.
I am now looking for work as a solo practitioner though can recommend other great developers if you need a larger team.
