But why would you even download files through something like Telegram?

This looks like the perfect distribution network for any kind of viruses etc., so wouldn't you just be better off going through TPB or other torrent services?

As someone with a research interest in such services maybe you allow me to ask a few questions (you don't have to answer all of them)

- What separates you from existing API Marketplaces (e.g. Algorithmia)

- What kind of run time environments do you allow?

- Do you have programmer APIs other than JS?

- From your blog I am assuming you use docker for running the algorithms? Will the docker images be made open too?

- How much effort do you think it would take me to transform an existing algorithm that I have to be available in your system?

afaik this is no longer true. At least for me (using Chrome) I no longer get the Flash viewer but the new HTML5 one.

many different reasons:

- no time

- no incentives (publish and perish)

- no knowledge

- usage of very different programming languages

- no platform to do this

I really love this approach. I am currently trying to do something similar for academics as part of my PhD project.

We have to understand that programming an algorithm actually is not always "easy". Imagine a new method presented in an academic paper that you would actually like to use. Re-Coding the whole thing that it works exactly the way presented sometimes is not possible (as not all implementation details are explained in the paper).

But imaging having a place (like Algorithmia) where researchers can upload there implementation (without giving access to their source code) and for others to access this algorithm with a very easy to use API would be a huge step forward in academics.
