I am a typical Indian engineer who has just recently graduated ( This Year) and I am pissed off at the article.

1. The original Economic Times article points that a large number of engineers are struggling to get placed but fails to give any satisfying evidence. 2. The article also only takes in account the candidates that got placed through college placement, it entirely disregards the engineers who may have gotten job through other means or those who may have started a business of their own. 3. Compare the hiring data that is shown for two universities - For IIT it is fairly consistent, For Amity, as the article mentions the placements are currently underway in the institute so it is not final data. 4. It says that India's IT industry will be hiring fewer people this year however it doesn't take into account other Indian industries which saw a boom in hiring this year - such as the Indian auto industry. In fact the article is mainly or as I suspect solely based on the IT industry data.

To conclude I think the Economic Times article only convinces me of one thing - rate of increase in engineers in India is proportional to it's population growth rate which I should think is the natural course of things.

mannjani | 13 years ago | on: Laservex: HTML5 Laser Puzzle Game

My count of favorite HTML5 games moves up to 3. First Subbania then Buildy and now this one. You should probably add more physics as @ivan_ah said.

mannjani | 13 years ago | on: Buildy, a real-time HTML5 building game - come build in our biggest world yet

I've seen a few HTML5 games for sometimes now but have only been impressed by two - first Subbania and now this one. And I must say Buildy tops them all. Good Job. The thing that I like most about it is that people don't use the canvas element as creatively as it can be but you did it. Such games must be developed more to popularize HTML5.

mannjani | 13 years ago | on: Being a polyglot programmer

Learning different programming paradigms is of course a great practice however I'm not sure we can attribute that to learning different languages. I think for a good programmer choice of a programming language does not matter.

mannjani | 13 years ago | on: Being a polyglot programmer

I think that being a programmer is not about coding in a particular language. It's all about thinking differently thus his point about being a polyglot programmer does not seem to hold. For me programming is how would I solve a particular problem with the tools I have. Maybe an easier solution exists if I do a certain thing a certain way but it would be more satisfying for me if I come up with a solution my way.

I think what steve8918 is trying to say is that a comment such as one made by shawnee_35 is not seen in a good way by some people, and I agree with him. However that does not mean that people shouldn't say what they think about someone but calling names is not a good sign.

I don't agree with your speculation that WordPress is in trouble. Though their may be decreasing amount of interest in blogging but WordPress is still used vastly as a CMS.

mannjani | 13 years ago | on: Ghost — rethinking WordPress

You may be right about his mistake in quoting the statistics but his point holds that wordpress is not THAT friendly for bloggers who just wants to publish their ideas.
