Sadly, guns are a tool to execute power, and power itself is amoral. Power can be used for bad and for good. In America this power that we have been granted is being abused in ways that it is obvious on the world stage. Our culture clearly has a sickness.
We frequently talk about freedom, but fail to talk about responsibility to use our freedoms properly. "Rights" framed discussions rather than "responsibility" framed discussions result in what we see. Abuse of rights without any way to address neglected responsibilities creates an environment where the rights themselves are called into question.

on: First clean water, now clean air
“The expectation of clean water in wealthy countries is enabled by technology and infrastructure; like effective sewage systems and water treatment facilities. But to a large extent it is also enabled, and was initially bootstrapped, by sound policymaking and regulation.
Regulation requires verification.”
Regulation of water does not require verification. We live on a planet where clean water is abundant and cannot escape the planet’s atmosphere. Why you think we need to measure how this is verified is beyond the beyond’s.
Here’s a wiki page reference if you need help measuring how much water exists on Earth:
While the majority of Earth's surface is covered by oceans, those oceans make up just a small fraction of the mass of the planet. The mass of Earth's oceans is estimated to be 1.37 × 1021 kg, which is 0.023% of the total mass of Earth, 6.0 × 1024 kg. An additional 5.0 × 1020 kg of water is estimated to exist in ice, lakes, rivers, groundwater, and atmospheric water vapor.[20]

I studied Human Geography in my undergrad. Our prof predicted a social media crash would be around 2050 due to declining global population. However, I think this crash is coming quicker than we thought in 2012.
The digital twin isn’t in real time, only near real time with some lag.

on: Ask HN: How does artificial intelligence benefit the planet?
I have researched and read a book about this topic. I still don't see any long term benefit. It sounds like the costs outweigh the benefits.
Can you prove me wrong? Why do humans need artificial intelligence? And how can artificial intelligence benefit society and the planet?

on: Ask HN: Do you know any examples of projects using TensorFlow with indigenous?
I am curious as to why technology has not been used with any indigenous community. If they see no benefit to artificial intelligence, what is the point of it? Ie., what is the benefit of artificial intelligence and machine learning? Is the point to create data and networks that can be replicated? Like biomimicry but with technology? How does this benefit society? Doesn't that use power and create e-waste? How do we create energy for this and recycle the e-waste?
