I understand it as if you stay hungry you are being foolish. If you are hungry eat.

So the way I see it as if you have an idea or something, go for it, cause if you are going to just stay with the craving of doing it, but never do, you are being foolish.

maze | 14 years ago | on: Why don't we have password standards?

Put a standard of 8 character minimum, and hackers will start targeting 8 characters+

For example, if they are using brute force they will start it using 8characters, or use dictionary words with 8c +. Still 8c is better then 6.

Just install a password manager, or "develop" your own "algorithm" of how you create your passwords. For example a password "Hackernews"; move each character once to the left, which would give: Jsvlrtmrd. Obviously this "algorithm" has to be change every few websites, or somebody will find out your pattern.

maze | 15 years ago | on: Ask HN: Multi-lingual website question

I will most probably do subdomains and redirect ex example.dk to dk.example.com

The site is basically same for every country just different languages so it doesn't matter if you enter from Spain or UK, just chose your preferred language.

Thank You for your help.

maze | 15 years ago | on: Ask HN: Multi-lingual website question

The site will be focused on specific countries, how can I put it example; the finish language of the site will be for the Finish (Finland). Same goes for other languages and countries.

What worries me is that it would be a bit of a hassle to manage all the domains...

maze | 15 years ago | on: Ask HN: how much does a user cost FB yearly in operating costs?

Well it depends on the user. If it it a user like me, that has 1 album with 10 photos and update my status once in a blue moon... well not a lot, but, if it's somebody like my mum's cousin that updates there status every few hours with 10's of comments, and has around 30-50 albums with an average of 100 photos each, well it costs them much much more.
