on: Secure your browsing using a home VPN
So even after reading the article, I'm unsure if its an appropriate set up for me.
I just want a way to access my NAS at home from my iphone (mainly just web traffic). I'm not worried about securing my traffic from a public hotspot because I almost never use them. I just want to be able to connect over 3G or from my work wifi. Is PPTP still a high risk with a long passphrase? Or is the risk related to connecting to the VPN from an unsecured network?
Also I should mention that I have a DD-WRT capable router, and I don't want to have another machine running just for VPN purposes.
Thanks

Yes, heaven forbid Google sends traffic to your site from people who might find it relevant.

on: Why I Didn't Get A Real Job
So what does "The New Student Union" do beyond be "an online magazine run by and for college students covering the issues that they care about."?
The term "startup" is thrown around WAY too much these days, you aren't a start up, you have no business model, you are basically just a multi contributor blog. What are you doing that other student publications aren't?
When you say "If you have a game-changing idea" do you honestly thing NSU is "game-changing"? What game are you changing?
You come across as incredibly entitled and arrogant in your post, I hope for the sake of the success of any future "start ups" you participate in, it's not the case.
"I have no deference to authority figures and have never been shy to voice my opinions, oftentimes to my detriment." This doesn't make you a good entrepreneur, it makes you an asshole.

Nice. I've got a bookmarklet I wrote exactly like this, which has morphed into chrome extension to automatically notify you when their is a HN discussion for the page you are on. Should polish it up and release it. Good work

IOS doesn't have virtual memory...
Actually a quick google says that might not be true, but it definitely has no swap file.

Yes but why is it "Advanced Google Analytics for Startups" and not "Advanced Google Analytics" or "Advanced Google Analytics for Websites"?

A well written guide, but I'm not sure what it has to do with startups specifically, except for link bait

I have the same question. I'd be interested in using this, but I need to have at least a rough idea of how the technology works in order to determine if it would be effective

The title is misleading, he clearly did a lot more than google "blonde". Turn safe search off, go to second page of results, click "more of these". There was nothing innocent about his actions, he was looking at porn at work. What did he expect?

Maybe, but it has very little to do with the fact that they did it in google docs and everything to do with being skilled animators. If they are skilled with motion graphics, why wouldn't they also charge the $20k market rate that you are quoting? Being talented != explosive startup
