on: First detection of the missing half of normal matter in our universe
If you read vanderZwan's analysis in another comment thread, it seems this discovery did not involve dark matter. It was well below 50%, and the baryon particles were always predicted to be there, they were just finally observed directly.

Interesting, usually when I submit a duplicate it simply adds a vote to the existing submission. Guess I'll start searching first. Thanks for the heads up.

on: Turn your browser into a notepad with one line
I often do an exercise that I've started referring to as a "brain dump". Sometimes when I feel overwhelmed, for whatever reason, it helps to just simply start typing. I start by just saying whatever is most present on my mind, and each new thought starts on a new line. More often than not I end up drilling down to some kind of inner conflict buried pretty deep in my mind.
What's really amazing is when seemingly unrelated stressful moments in your life are revealed to be from the same source.

One thing I noticed is that their library is essentially Backbone and Underscore, and their docs state that it has all existing functionality...except I keep finding functions that aren't included, so I still have to load my own version of Backbone.
But you're right: for my next app, I'll probably just use their REST API directly.

Offroading isn't the only source of bumps - turbulence while flying, public transportation, strapped to a motorcycle on backroads...
I think the point is that when the computer is powered off and the lid is closed, there is absolutely no reason it should ever power on by itself.

One thing to consider is that their target audience is attendees of the Front-trends conference, a conference specifically for front end developers. I think it's a safe bet that a majority of the traffic will have a compatible browser.

Diet has made a huge difference in maintaining my energy levels throughout the day. In the morning I make a vegetable + fruit smoothie, lunch I usually eat plain chili or some form of meat and vegetables. I try to reserve carbs for before/after exercise.
On days when I splurge and eat pizza or some heavy carbs for lunch, I usually crash pretty hard around 2pm. That's why I save lunch beers for Fridays only! :)

on: Work, Life And Side Projects
I recently struggled with balancing these three. When my ex-girlfriend started a mandatory "no computer Sundays", I knew something had to change. Here's what has been working for me: get up early. I wake up at 5am, have a few hours to work on side projects or freelance work, and then I head into work at 8am. After work, I don't touch a computer until the next morning. It's been just over a month and I'm loving the results.

I recently discovered dubstep and think it's great work music as well. I would recommend checking out iTunes and Pandora to start finding artists you like, some of my favorite stations are Defiant radio on iTunes and Destroyer.net.
