Ok - thanks for your feedback!

I've been meaning to make saved sites editable - will implement this asap.

Regarding the app download, I figured you have to log in anyway to get the license key, and the direct download link is on the same page. The Dropbox link is only required for older versions of the app, and the latest version (1.0.6) includes auto updates. I get your point though - this process could definitely be improved; hopefully I'll have time tomorrow.

I'm not sure about the connection issue - I'll do some testing on my mac tomorrow to try to replicate the error, and will hopefully have an update very soon!

Yeah that's a fair point. The purpose of the application isn't to provide fine-grained control over plugins etc yet.. However, I do intend to add settings configuration for some plugins. Which plugins I'll do this for depends on their popularity and whether they have WP-CLI compatibility built in.

In the meantime I may see if I can also embed the WP admin page so the user has quick access if they want to change anything.

Thanks for your feedback!

mikeywazowski | 1 year ago | on: Being laid off in 2023-2024 as an early-career developer

I have ~10 years' experience and am finding the same.

It's reassuring to know that I'm not alone (so presumably it's not just because I'm a terrible developer), but disheartening at the same time because who knows when things will improve?

I'm in an ok situation financially (no mortgage, earning a little bit doing AI training) so have the freedom to develop a couple apps of my own. This is something I've wanted to do for ages, but they're a long way from making any kind of money. I can't complain but I'd really rather have a stable income at this stage.

Other than for the fact that it's open source, is there any reason people prefer AHK to AutoIt?

I haven't used either for some time now because I don't use Windows much these days, but I tried both and vastly preferred AutoIt. I'm surprised that the author stuck with AHK when he says "AHK v1 was very, very bad.", when surely AutoIt was a viable alternative?

I agree. We used ClickUp at my old work, and I felt like I was the only person who found it extremely unintuitive and confusing. It was about the 5th project management app they switched to, and the worst for me by far. Unfortunately they stuck with it until I left.

When I was little, my older brothers repeatedly told me that I'd pushed over a motorbike one day. I eventually believed them and formed a vivid memory of the incident, and it wasn't til my 21st birthday that my brothers came clean. 15 years later, I still have some recollection of pushing the motorbike over, but I think it's more like a memory of a memory now, since I know it didn't really happen.

I don't think I'm particularly prone to suggestion (although I was young at the time). I feel like if it can happen to me, it must happen to other people also, and I too wonder how much of what we remember is false memories.

Nice! Yeah IMO waiting until they're wrinkly is the key. I killed quite a few through overwatering until I finally realised I needed to be more patient.

My wife bought me five different coloured lithops for my birthday a few years ago. They're all still alive, and I think all of them have flowered at least once. I never water them unless they're wrinkly; when they are, I give them a small amount of water each day until they're smooth again.

I joined the waitlist at the end of June and got an invite yesterday. So 4 months?

However, I imagine a lot of people signed up just before me, so I was probably at the end of a long list. The wait wouldn't be this long if you sign up today, I reckon. I'm just guessing though.

mikeywazowski | 4 years ago | on: Tower: Powerful Git client for Mac and Windows

Genuine question - why do people use Git Tower?

I used it during the beta period a few years ago and IMO it was good, but nothing really special. I'm all for paying for software, but it's relatively expensive, and doesn't seem to offer anything new when compared with something like Sublime Merge, the paid version of which is about one third the price.
