modsearch | 6 years ago | on: Show HN: Replin – A cross-platform P2P selling profile built on Ethereum

Hi all! We built a universal checkout page for sellers to show off their selling reputation, get paid via PayPal, import existing feedback from marketplaces like eBay, and continue earning reputation tied to their sales.

Transaction history and ratings are stored on Ethereum so the data is decentralized, publicly viewable, and verifiable. We believe sellers should be able to take their history and reputation with them wherever they sell - and buyers should be able to verify who they are dealing with, even when buying outside of established marketplaces.

Here is my selling profile as an example: https://replin.com/geehwan

Click on reviews and you can see the Ethereum transactions of completed Replin sales.

Currently in beta, we are targeting places like IG, Twitter, FB, Reddit, where we realized lots of people buy and sell stuff already.. mostly to escape fees from eBay etc, but also because it's more fun.

Our team currently runs Listia (YCS09) and the two products are integrated. Sellers can bring their entire Listia selling history to Replin and all future Listia sales are also synced to Replin. We extracted the basic buy/sell flow of a typical p2p marketplace transaction and built it into Replin for transactions outside of marketplaces. Long term we think people should be able to transact safely anywhere, while owning their own reputation and data.

Would really love any feedback, especially if you sell online or on eBay etc.. thank you!

modsearch | 8 years ago | on: Ink – Decentralized reputation and payments for p2p marketplaces

Hi, I’m a co-founder at Listia. We are building Ink using our 8 years of experience with all the difficult aspects of building a marketplace.

Also we think it’s time to shift the ownership of reputation away from companies, even us. eBay and others have had a monopoly over your feedback and reputation for too long :)

Feel free to ask me any questions and I’ll do my best to answer them, thanks!

Android Developers | SF Bay Area preferred | Onsite | Full Time | Salary + Equity + Benefits

Listia is a mobile marketplace where you sell things you don't need and get stuff you want in return, for free. Earn credits by giving stuff away, and use those credits to get things you really want from other users.

We are looking for someone to own, build new features for, and improve the Listia Android app.

we were able to get ours after registering the trademark and then waiting for the twitter account to be dormant for 1 year. Luckily, no one was really using it. If it was not dormant, I suspect it would have been much harder if not impossible to get.

From a legal standpoint, I honestly don't know... but doing something like that sounds like a good way to quickly go out of business, which would be much worse than the possible legal repercussions imho :-)

We have switched ESPs 3 times since our startup launched... it would have been great to have all the data on a service like mixpanel instead of starting over each time. On top of that, we also use a mix of ESPs and our own mail servers from time to time, so mixpanel's service would help there as well to consolidate everything.

Very cool concept. My wife could probably write a book about what she puts up with... a supportive spouse makes all the difference. I'll tell her to follow the blog :)
