Which ones are? The ones at bicyclerollingresistance.com aren't road-like-bumpy at least, and that's the most commonly cited page I know of for rolling resistance.

I love brr.com and have used them a lot, but in the context of this thread, it's important to consider that the surface they test the tires against do not have the kind of imperfections you see on the road. This means lower pressure will always perform worse in their tests, which goes against the more recent consensus in that each road has an optimal pressure depending on its roughness.

His radar explanation for FLIR doesn't really hold well if you take their stories into account though. There's a limit to how far away it could have been since they're saying they saw it near sea level below where they were. He also doesn't explain why the jet engines of said plane didn't show up as a different color on the IR camera.

Eyewitness testimonies are not very reliable, no, but unless they're lying, there was definitely something unexplained going on there. It's possible there's an explanation which covers all of it, but Mick West's doesn't.

Not to mention that he's a game developer and not an aerospace engineer. I really doubt he has any experience using the systems that he's explaining. I would love to see that video "peer-reviewed" by someone who has the credentials to talk about those things.

Are you sure there are false positives with the serological tests they're using? As far as I've read, there are tests with only false negatives, and if I don't misremember they were the ones used for the Swedish statistical study released (and retracted) last week.

What's so complex about ASP.NET Core web api, other than having to learn to use a DI framework?

I found it very simple and minimal (again, other than the DI) when learning it.

How are crime statistics relevant? If anything, you should look at recidivism. Crime statistics have more to do with other things in society than the 'philosophy' of prisons.

Wow, this is the only suggestion I really didn't like. I'm really happy that it's progressing forward, but I can't help but feel that staying with the macro and postponing the decision would've been a better choice.

A language should, in my opinion, not depend on syntax highlighting.

Considering your other comment with "billion dollar investors" in a company that was barely worth 1 billion dollars back then, this definitely reads like a made-up story.

> No they are not. Scooters and bikes are a great way to arrive at your destination sweaty, and you are at great risk of being run over by cars.

> Multi-modal transportation only works if your coworkers don't care what you smell like.

This makes sense if we're talking _today_ in cities such as LA, however if you look at biking-friendly cities such as Amsterdam or Stockholm, it's not really the case at all.

I'd go so far as to say that, in my experience, biking to work is as common (or even more?) as driving to work in central Stockholm, and the sweat problem you're talking about is really non-existing.

Wasn't very smooth when I tried it, and it's only Windows/OSX, isn't it?

nchie | 7 years ago | on: Choose Firefox Now, or Later You Won't Get a Choice (2014)

What are you even talking about? You're making it sound like Firefox has ever been a lot worse than Chrome, but that's far from the truth.

I've used both quite a lot and I've always preferred Firefox, even _without_ considering the privacy aspects. I still use Chrome on my laptop as Firefox doesn't support decent pinch zooming (that's more or less my only complaint), but for desktop usage I definitely choose Firefox over Chrome.
