Thanks for your suggestions! I figured a web app wouldn't be ideal for our needs. Our challenge is that we have to transmit and process up to 12 leads at a time. Most of the products out there today are only using a few ECG leads. We also have to design and build the the actual device that will transmit from the body. It looks like a native Windows app is usually the standard for software in this field of work. Thanks!

PG also made this statement in May 2009 (iPad released April 2010):

What would be your dream setup?

I'd like it if the Air was about half the size. I don't know why Apple won't make something in between the Air and an iPhone...

I've been using Quora for a few months and I have found it VERY useful. Mainly due to the quality of answers being far better than anything found in a simple Google Search. Also, the user base is very transparent. There are many influential web users on the site with plenty of good knowledge to share. The fact that you can ask a question to a user without being their friend is also helpful. With the release to the public, I fear that the quality of questions and answers will fall to something similar to that of Yahoo Answers. Let's hope not.

patrickryan | 16 years ago | on: How to lose weight: What worked for me, with graphs

I'd suggest not weighing yourself everyday, but every week at the same time of day. This is because each day your body weight varies from water weight lost and gained. So one day you may be a few lbs. more than usual, which can be discouraging.

patrickryan | 16 years ago | on: Review my startup: Mixlr

I get an error message when uploading an .mp3:

"If you're sure your internet connection works, then we recommend you either use Google Chrome (this is the recommended option - you don't actually need Flash if you're using Chrome), or install Flash."

This statement confuses me since I am using Chrome, my connection is good, and I do have Flash installed.

patrickryan | 16 years ago | on: Airbnb has 20 job openings

The Airbnb team is a talented group of engineers and designers. I had the opportunity to stay with them during Startup School last October and observe their work environment over the course of a few days. These guys are focused on their product and determined, good luck on the hiring! //from Texas

This was basically his Startup School talk. He definitely has many great points but I question a few. Such as, using IM as a replacement for speaking directly to a coworker within an office. How can this be more efficient? I don't see it.

patrickryan | 16 years ago | on: Ask HN: am I too old to learn the guitar/music?

There is no age limit to learning. In fact, I bought a guitar at the age of 19 and began teaching myself chords, strumming, and scales with no previous experience. I am 23 now, wrote and recorded a full length music album 2 years ago, have played numerous live shows as a solo artist, and continue to learn guitar everyday. My suggestions for learning guitar: Find a tab for a song you enjoy on http://ultimate-guitar.com, and practice it daily.

patrickryan | 16 years ago | on: Ask HN: Rate our idea / site (Textbook Revolt)

Here is the problem I see with this idea.

Why would students pay for a rental book that is nearly the same price as a used book they can buy elsewhere (half.com, amazon, etc.) and also own it? At the end of the semester, they can sell the book they own for some extra cash instead of returning the rental book.

Yes, I would choose the apple if I had the choice between the two. The Reese's cup is less caloric, but high in sugar and fat. The apple also has a considerable amount of sugar as well, but has health benefits. Also, the apple will keep you full much longer than the Reese's. Let's face it, who only eats just one Reese's? The key is balancing eating good foods with less calories.

Also, I think it is important to not to focus on "losing weight", but living a healthier lifestyle.
