I think your last suggestion is the best: teach kids how to use AI in the smartest possible way. Asking them not to use it is moronic, it would be like telling them to use a paper encyclopedia instead of the internet.

To answer your question directly, yes I have also seen that recently on Google photos in the US. I found it weird and useless, and you're right that it's essentially a deep fake produced by Google on our behalf without being asked to.
