"The water can be used to heat salt that stores the energy until later, when the sun dips and households power up their appliances and air-conditioning at peak demand hours in the summer."

Air-condition after sunset? Maybe, but that's an edge case for sure.

So if this thing actually costs $737MM to build, then the energy it stores would have to be sold at around around $200/Megawatt to pay back the loan in 10 years. More, if you want to cover operating costs.

What's the catch? That's far above current market rates.

Is the only thing that changed in Obama's position his stance on security? If not, then I think there are several very simple explanations that might apply: * He didn't mean some or all of the things he said as a candidate and never intended to take action on them. * After he took office, he had to answer to more powerful interests who would not allow him to take action on campaign promises. * While campaigning, he promised things that he's incapable of taking action on, whether he knew it or not at the time.

Any of these explanations could be applied to any recent candidate for the office of PotUS.

I suppose if Google+ was a conventional product--and one could get accurate information about whether or not Google's execs actually used it--this article might have a point.

But Google+ isn't a product. It's more like an API that uses a graphic user interface to transfer personal data from users to Google. Google then uses that data to provide an actual product to its actual customers: advertisers.
