I have that experience. Like every other experience the novelty wears off and I find myself keeping the vibe to a room because it’s distracting; lizard brain stays connected to music and I forget why I went across the house.

In the end I use it so sparingly (social gatherings) owners of detached homes without shared walls, could save the money and time and just turn up the volume.

That said, as always, YMMV

That’s far too reductive a solution. Too single variable.

“Boeing” is a made up idea. Engineering an aircraft is not.

Make HR a government agency, to remove redundancy and extract all gains from a rich minority who aren’t owed the allegiance of 100s of millions and billions across the globe.

American Civic Life: The Story is not one where a handful did all the work, are worth all the prestige. Any one of them dies tonight we all have to move on. This system is so “War is peace.” And plenty of educated geniuses are in on it. If they can’t cope with actual science driven rational take on their value to humanity then more war less peace is what they’ll get. Humans are not philosophy driven they’re biology driven and too many are having their biology strained to the point of snapping

That crucial thing was probably being lucky enough to be born 50 years ago before all the low hanging work we take for granted had been done.

Probably load up on financing to expand. Expansion floundered and they had to unload unprofitable and profitable locations to cover the debt.

Don’t call it “balls on a rubber sheet” then.

Describe it as an artistic representation of the theorized behavior.

Pull a Maxwell, whose theory of electromagnetism only worked when he got rid of the imaginary levers; get rid of descriptions in terms of physical things.

As a visual it’s fine. The debate here is the language. Only one aspect needs to change.

Google just hosting the data is exactly what I want. Making them a monolith gives them too much leverage.

All we need is hosted APIs and frontend frameworks to wrap content as the user desires.

Charge API users for their bandwidth.

I don’t want Google also deciding what to boost to help them gobble up more human agency.

Reduce redundancy by making HR its own thing.

At the end of the day Google’s core engineering competency is load balancing date center use. The rest is behavioral economics research influenced gamification of our agency
