What you saw might have been ball lightning.

A friend and I saw one when we were kids. I only came to find out what it was many years later. From the distance it looked no different than an airplane light until it got really close, around 30ft from us. It looked like a ball of white light, a bit larger than a basketball. There was no clear contour, like when you look at a very bright lamp. It made no noise whatsoever. We lost it from sight for a moment and it was gone.

I'm not totally sure but I think the sky was clear that night.

No better time for countries that antagonize China to go on the offensive given all the anti-Chinese sentiment due to Coronavirus, Uyghur internment allegations and US sanctions.

I don't think "black-box" algorithms are the problem per se. In this case the system was doomed from the get-go by using biased and flawed input attributes.

What I find very problematic in the use of automated systems for fraud detection is taking the system decision as final and not offering an easy and clear way of appealing decisions.

Not an expert but I don't think this is a great paper for a few reasons:

- there's quite a lot of variation in carbohydrate intake in LCD and fat intake in LFD group (even though there are statistically significant differences between the groups).

- they did not control for protein.

- they could have made things a lot simpler by stating macros for each diet in grams instead of in terms of ancient Chinese measurement units. Simply replacing almonds for part of the "staple food" (admittedly high carb) was also strange, although understandable to improve compliance.

- we know simply losing weight improves metabolic markers. People in the LCD lost weight. It is hard not to ascribe the improvements to that. That could say something about the potential of LCD for weight loss given the difference in calories between groups wasn't statistically significant.

You are probably not exercising property. You either have poor execution, use too much weight, use exercises that don't agree if your body mechanics or a combination of the three.

Feeling sore in the muscles is normal, feeling joint pain is not.

It's true you need more rest/sleep but I found you can work around it if you don't care too about putting on muscle and thus work out less frequently and with less intensity, just for the health benefits.

+1 to choosing a routine you can stick to.

Routines like 5x5 can be ok for some but I'm not sure it is a good idea to put most beginners in low rep range workouts before they can learn the movements. Probably best to work on the 8-12 rep range and machines in the beginning.

I'm a fan of two weekly full-body workouts in a mix of machines and free weights, or 2-way splits (upper/lower, push/pull) 3 times a week. I've seen far too many times beginners being put on a 3-way split with workouts that take 1 hour or more just too quit the gym the next month.

Seek help to build a simple routine (bodyweight exercises work too) that works the whole body and doesn't too much time and then build up from there.

What you said is probably 80% of the way. I would also be interested in more research about individual responses to food. There's some evidence blood glucose levels vary considerably between individuals consuming the same food: https://www.cell.com/fulltext/S0092-8674(15)01481-6. That would help me choose my staples (what's best for me, brow rice or yam?) and how much junk to include (what if I don't have that much of a blood sugar spike after eating ice cream?).

I haven't delved into any specific papers about caffeine but I would assume they would control for at least some of those factors you mentioned.
