The better battery usage and wi-fi are some of the basic things that don't work out of the box even on a preinstalled ubuntu on XPS are real let down. These are the same problems I faced when I had used Linux laptops before, and so now happily settled with 15" mac pro since past 5 years - no issues whatsoever.

I had forgotten my laptop while going through security at the Detroit airport. So when loudspeaker announcements happened, I went back to collect the laptop. The security guy asked "Why type of laptop is it?" intending to check if it's really mine, I replied: "One with lots of stickers". "There you go" he said handing me my laptop that was inside a protective cover.

This was not about charging differently based on how much people have.

It was about charging differently based on WHAT you are using.

So, if I have much money, I can have my service freely for everyone, while this other startup, unless pays to internet providers, will be available over the paid internet.

I do agree here. I do develop in India, and rarely i meet people with Mac. Most devs use linux and most html and UI guys go with windows.

rtdp | 13 years ago | on: Ask HN: Google Chromebook - anybody using it for web development?

thanks for reply and excited to know !!

So, development works pretty well if you have a good wifi connection.

Its just matter that we need to have good ssh client, where vim will work asyn and will push only for saves. I guess this way, development will be good in bit bad net-connections as well.

Does chromebook have a shell where i can ssh to my servers ? I mean, i have seen ssh apps for chorme browser and those work with chromebook, but its still browser.

I just need a browser- which chromebook has and a shell - just two things i need for everyday development.

It's not compulsion to spend some money and do the course. When i started rails, i was without even computer sciences background. The best way to learn rails is by doing and learning with application development itself. In this regard this may help - http://ruby.railstutorial.org/ruby-on-rails-tutorial-book

Keep in mind, the best way to go with rails is learn the conventions, once you get them you will start loving rails or else thing might frustrate you.
