Hi everyone, here's my latest project. I threw it together because I couldn't find something to help me go next, previous in iTunes without touching my computer. I'm going to open source it real soon if there's interest and we can all work on making it better, making a Windows build, and supporting other apps too.

on: Instant splash pages for iOS apps
Nice. Sounds like it would be relatively trivial to add templates for other app stores- please do so! I'd love to make a Smore for my new Nook app.

Nah dude, this one did happen. Google 'Joan Ginther', it's been written about everywhere.

I just realized this was from 2004. Ah well, fascinating anyway. Wonder whatever happened with all that.

on: Austin chamber, tech guru team up to create startup center
It sounds like something I would be interested in checking out. Regrettably though it'll be less often than I would rather, simply because it's downtown. I'm not sure I understand why, and why virtually all the tech meetups meet downtown either. Almost all the programmers live in the north because that's where our day jobs are...

on: I’m An Article About The Internet That You Repost On The Internet
hee. I do wonder just how much innovation is being stifled in terms of time-wasting and demoralization by the hype-machine. I don't mind articles about apps or new techs, but I'm about getting my fill of the incessant stream of news about funding, VCs, i.e. the "business" of startups...and that's not to mention the umpteenth post about how your startup isn't lean enough if you don't validate your idea or do A/B testing.

on: Show HN: We decided not to apply to YC so we could try Kickstarter
I think there might be a good nugget at the core of this, however I've already spent a minute on your site and watching your kickstarter video and am still unclear on exactly what it is the app does. And especially, why it's different from any other photo gallery out there. I think you guys need to work on communicating your product-- maybe talk to a copywriter friend or something, have them clarify your ideas for you. The good news- I like the design of your site. And the tagline -- graphic novel of your life -- is appealing to me. But it does not yet translate from what I can see into your product. Good luck!

on: I am a great programmer, but horrible algorithmist
I dunno, a lot of these things are brain teasers and not useful in our everyday programming lives as you say. Brain teasers can strengthen your brain and thus make you a better programmer, but rarely will you be able to apply the learnings from those brain teasers to common problems. I think I'll tease my brain just enough to be more productive, not just so that I can "feel" like a better programmer...

on: How much of Settlers of Catan is Luck?
If you play Cities and Knights (Catan expansion), the contribution of luck to a victory decreases by quite a bit, methinks. The game is much longer (play to 13 or more points) and involves a heck of a lot more strategy. There are more ways to win. You can also play with cards instead of dice (or like me, build a quick web-based cards prototype because I was too lazy to go physically buy them)

on: Facebook hype will fade
I have no real use for facebook anymore. Honestly, I think most people right now just go there for lack of something to procrastinate with. Twitter is much better for that anyway. Trying to get all my fb friends to jump ship with me.
http://blog.ruedaminute.com/2011/01/dear-facebook-friends/ Honestly, the more people on Twitter, the better for the internet IMHO.
