I post links to my blog post from time to time. Although none of them made a buzz here in HN but a few of you have contacted me in the past looking at my posts/blog. I have worked as a contractor for some of them and it has been wonderful working with them. Not to mention, you get paid a lot as a contractor.

sdiw | 4 years ago | on: Ask HN: How do you guys keep your resumes updated?

Most of the time, you need ot add/edit your recent work experience. Rest of the things stay same (in general). Not hard to do that once in a while Although, I update only when I apply for a new job.

sdiw | 4 years ago | on: Ask HN: In your opinion, what sucks about StackOverflow

Not directly with StackOverflow but when I search for something, usually I meet with outdated results on google. For e.g. if I search for something on iOS/Android, I usually get results from 2011-13 which don't add any value because frameworks have been updated since then.

sdiw | 5 years ago | on: Ask HN: How Blog/side projects helped you land a job

I started writing blog 5-6 years ago. Initially, there was no tracktion. With time, as the content grew and a few of my posts got attention on HN and StackOverflow; I started getting requests from companies to work for them. A few of them were small gigs but I have been working with 2 companies as a freelancer since last 6 years.

A few of the posts were research based and therefore they wanted to know more about my insight. A few of them were tutorials and they wanted me to build something for them. Hope this helps. If you have any other question, send me an email. (in profile)

sdiw | 5 years ago | on: Ask HN: What is your blog stack?

I've been using Ghost ever since I switched my blog from WordPress. I've been pretty happy with it and their editing experience is great. I host it on Digital Ocean.

sdiw | 5 years ago | on: Remote Employees Shouldn’t Be Paid Less Based on Geography

Yeah, I had GitLab on my mind when I wrote my comment. I do think it's unfair for a fully remote company but they have their reasons. Its unfortunate developers with the same skill set can have a massive gap in salary because they live in different locations even though they bring same value to the company.
