sepisoad | 1 month ago | on: Over 36,500 killed in Iran's deadliest massacre, documents reveal

An iranian expat here. I have been following the news closely, mostly getting my data from my friends in Iran before the internet shutdown and after it was (sort of) lifted.

The death toll is way above this number, you have to consider the fact that Iran is a big country with many small cities, and in my city alone (which is very small and rarely has any protest going on) many people have died (i don’t have the exact numbers but it could be anywhere between 100 to 200) and when you put this into perspective you will understand that in scale of the entire country a lot of people have died.

I have heard that not only they killed people on the street but they have chased those who fled and killded them at their places or hidings, let alone the killing of the injured ones in hospitals.

It’s is a big tragedy and people are reluctant to talk about it because those who are committing this massacre are MUSLIMS and support PALESTINE so this is a moral dilemma for the left lovers! because they see Mullah’s regime as one of their biggest allies when it comes to attack West/Israel/Free market

It’s a shame that all those activist that would shred themselves for Palestine are absolutely quite about Iran

I totally agree, Microsoft is ruining everything with AI, like all Microsoft product have been on decline for years even before the LLM era, and now they are on an even steeper decline.

it makes me sad to see that github is now going through the same shit, and people are using other random half-ass alternatives, it’s not easy to keep track of your favourite open-source projects across many source forgeries. we need someone to buy github from Microsoft and remove all the crap they have added to it.

You’re Iranian and call me a traitor for wanting the regime gone? That’s nonsense. I know the Iran-Iraq War—my family suffered through it. The regime used that war to crush our people and grab more power. Don’t lecture me on history while ignoring 45 years of the mullahs’ crimes: killing protesters, jailing women, executing LGBTQ people. You’re okay with that?

You say Israel and the U.S. attacked “our land.” Wrong. They hit the regime’s military and leaders, not our culture or people. You bring up Libya, Syria, Iraq—sure, those were messes. But the mullahs are already destroying Iran: no freedom, no jobs, no hope. You want me to stay quiet while they ruin us? No way. I’m not cheering for Israel or the U.S.—I’m cheering for the end of the mullahs. If strikes weaken them, good.

You talk about pride in Cyrus, Darius, and Reza Shah. Where’s your pride in fighting a regime that shames our 3,000-year history? They’ve made Iran a prison, not a great nation. You say negotiations were happening? The regime’s negotiators and scientists were killed—how’s that for wanting peace?

You call me naive, but you’re the one ignoring the truth. The regime’s enemies aren’t attacking our soul—they’re hitting the mullahs. I’m not siding with Israel or the U.S.; I’m siding with Iranians who want freedom. If you think defending the regime saves our honor, you’ve lost yours.

You think I’m not Iranian because I used GPT? That’s just stupid. My English isn’t perfect—I’m Iranian, and like many of us, I use tools like GPT to help write clearly. Doubting my nationality over that is brain-dead logic. It’s 2025, and using GPT is normal for non-native speakers. Your weak attempt to shame me shows you’ve got no real point.

As for your claim about Israel “invading minds and culture,” that’s just wild conspiracy nonsense. Israel’s strikes hit the regime’s military, not our culture. You’re dodging the real issue: the mullahs’ 45 years of killing, oppressing, and ruining lives. Where’s your outrage for that? Instead, you’re twisting things to sound clever. Try focusing on the actual problem—the regime—before throwing shade at me for hoping they fall.

As Iranians, we are exhausted and frustrated with the Islamic regime in Iran, which has proven to be more destructive than any weapon. Despite numerous attempts to peacefully change the regime, each effort has been met with brutal violence, mass killings of civilians, and imprisonment of anyone who dares to oppose them. Over time, we’ve realized that protests alone cannot overthrow this regime; it requires a force stronger than them to bring about change. Now, after 45 years, Israel’s strikes on the regime’s key figures and military installations have given us a glimmer of hope. When my non-Iranian friends ask how I feel, I tell them I’m overjoyed—this is something we’ve dreamed of for decades. War is not ideal, but in a far-from-perfect world, it can sometimes prevent greater harm. This conflict is doing just that by challenging a regime that promotes a toxic ideology, one that disregards human life and thrives on death and destruction to achieve its goals. While many Iranians feel hopeful that this could pave the way for real change, it’s disheartening to see left-leaning activists worldwide aligning with apologists for the mullahs’ regime, chanting “Stop the war.” This is deeply troubling. Where were they during the past 45 years when the regime slaughtered thousands, forced countless people into exile, oppressed women and minorities, executed LGBTQ individuals, and held Western travelers hostage to extort foreign governments? To those who believe they’re doing good by opposing this war, you are, at best, a useful idiot supporting the mullahs’ regime. You cannot fathom the consequences if this conflict ends without decisively weakening them—Iran’s people would face an even darker era. I’m not here to glorify Netanyahu or Trump, but their actions have achieved something we’ve long hoped for. My hope is that this leads to the complete dismantling of the regime and its proxies.

sepisoad | 1 year ago | on: One Line, Three Tricks: Unpacking a Quake 1 Gem

i put together something in godbolt and here is the result:

https://godbolt.org/z/sbzPT33nq

“quake” version uses “lea" to pre-increment pointers before storing values. “normal” version uses “add" after storing values.

The “lea" instruction is often faster because it performs an addition in a single cycle without modifying flags, whereas “add" may introduce a dependency.

“quake” version might have a slight edge due to better pipeline efficiency.

“lea" is often preferred over “add" in performance-critical code because it is a single-cycle instruction on modern x86 CPUs.

sepisoad | 2 years ago | on: In 2024, please switch to Firefox

i really like firefox to shine. but it’s very ugly and turns me off every time i use it. it's been around forever but the UI has never looked good, I’d argue that in recent years it’s gotten even uglier.

recently i’ve been using duck duck go browser on macos, it’s literally my main browser for the past 6 months and I’m very happy with it’s simple and beautiful UI.

i mentioned duck duck go browser because of multiple reason, first of all, there are many of us who are willing to ditch chrome, and a lot of us can live without all the goodies that come with chrome, a lot of us can live with a browser that is a bit slower than chrome, but i’m sure there are also a lot of us who cannot force themselves to deal with an ugly browser.

sepisoad | 4 years ago | on: Sublime Text 4

I am huge sublime text fan, and have updated my license, one thing that I would like to see is an official and better vim emulation extension, I know there is vintage package but it is far from being useful, and then there are other vim emulation packages that are not making proper use of sublime powers, so I would like to see a better and newer vintage package

sepisoad | 5 years ago | on: Gitlab Blocked Iranians’ Access

That's so lame, basically it has nothing to do with free software and open source, you can still use them if you wish. in fact it is the corporations who are blocking us not the software!!!.

Moreover we have to point our fingers toward Iranian corrupt regime because they are bringing misery to the the people. We have to be asking this question every day: why on earth countries like japan or korea never get sanctioned. I guess the answer is simple

sepisoad | 6 years ago | on: Fasting Affects the Brain

yes fasting can have benefits, but the way most Muslims do it (in summer specifically) actually hurts. your body needs a minimum amount of water and salt to work properly throughout the day.
