If they allow it, you could go with them to their workplace and have them explain what they're doing as they do it. This will give you a much better idea of what their workday actually entails and make up for your friends' inability to describe their activities.

Small semi-relevant tip:

The slideshow after "Here's what it looks like" shouldn't alternate directions for the transition animation. You should make the screenshot come in from one direction if you press next and the other direction if you press back. This improves visual feedback for the user.

This is usually true of language or framework-specific books, but not of more general books like The Pragmatic Programmer. If you're looking to write books that will be read years from now, you need to focus on wider or more fundamental issues. The caveat here is that primers for long-lived languages like C++ have remained relevant for decades.
