I'm sorry, but WHY are you glad about that? If anything that infuriates me more. They have known about these threats for months if not years and decided to do nothing until actual violence was at their doorsteps.

> Honestly it's shocking how many on HN try to defend it.
Noticing a tendency among many in the tech community to take apolitical & "centrist" positions on many of these issues, which usually ends up with the blaming of "both sides".
Being in the center when one side is so intent on going to the extreme right is not a virtue.

Yes, how convenient this time, in comparison to the BLM protests which were met with militarized police against peaceful protestors.

The DS Lite edges it for me. You could get a microsd ds cartridge adapter as well as an expandable flash cartridge for the GBA slot and store all of your home brew games on the microsd.
Back then, it felt so futuristic to have an entire library of games in one cartridge on the go.

I generally hear this sentiment from those who are self proclaimed “centrists” and are relatively unaffected by politics. It’s a little sad how many people think political discussion shouldn’t take place in democratic countries.

I use a Mac and windows everyday and I find the third party windows management tools such as ShiftIt, Spectacle, Magnet, etc to be much better than anything that Windows 10 has built-in.
Primarily, I can never seem to predict what pressing win+Left will actually do. Sometimes it moves the window to the left half. Other times it moves to the right half. And some other times it does nothing until I press win+right first. Overall I think it’s a terrible window management system. Sure MacOS has nothing built in but it takes about 5-10 mins to install and configure a much better system.

Got to agree with this. You see European football fans make dehumanizing monkey sounds and gestures at black and brown players. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that in American sports.

As someone who only sparingly uses dark mode (almost exclusively at night), I kind of like full black mode. It’s much easier on the eyes at night.
That said, I don’t even bother using dark mode in the day because full black mode makes everything harder to read.

on: San Francisco Apartment Rents Crater Up to 31%, Most in U.S.
Speaking anecdotally I think this has some truth in it. A lot of people I know seem to loathe San Francisco and only put up with it because they’re required to live here for a job.
If that’s the true reason for an exodus, then I hope it benefits the city to have residents that want to live here.

I was a subscriber back in 2008-10 and then again from 2016-17. I found it odd that somewhere in the middle, they seemingly stopped (or slowed down) doing the special reports that were a deep dive on a big topic. Those were always my favorite parts of new editions.

Could be misremembering but I recall reading that bipedalism in humans correlates with a narrowing of the birth canal, potentially increasing mortality during childbirth and also selecting for infants that are underdeveloped compared to other newborn mammals.
