Sorry. In the middle used to be a font switcher, but it didn't turn out that well, so I replaced it with a custom tweet button. Yeah, maybe it would be less intrusive to move it to the bottom.

Edit: done!

To create the head shapes, the position and rotation of each letter is defined with CSS transforms (see heads.css). To get the right values, it's mostly trial and error. But to make it a bit easier, I created a little helper script that let me drag/rotate each letter with the mouse and then copy the value to be used for those CSS transforms.

If you would use Phonegap and put it up on the App Store, nobody would complain having to "install" it.

I can't talk for the creator, but I guess this app is meant to be stand-alone, launched straight from the homescreen (without address bar) and not as a regular website that you have bookmarked.

The tilt-shift effect is only applied to the text. So yeah, I cheated a little by adding a background image that is already tilt-shifted. ;-)

On the iPhone app store you see constantly dynamic prices.

Most apps start with an introductory price to boost their ranking. Then it goes up to normal and if they see that it doesn't sell anymore, they lower the price again. Or they do weekend/Holliday sales too.

I think for a user it's not just the fact to save a buck or two, it's more the satisfaction you get when you feel you got a good deal.
