Thank you. I enjoyed Clusty when it first came out; I thought the clustering feature at the heart of it was really innovative, and the UI was nice and clean. But after the new rules came out, I abandoned it completely.

National vs. local news is an important distinction here that many of these "The key to happiness is ignoring the news" posts miss.

The breathless CNN story about the latest missing white woman might not be relevant to your life, but your local newspaper's stories about property taxes, parking fees, local entertainment events and people in your community most certainly are.

Most introductory programming books lay down the basic principles of programming, describe the specific language the particular book covers, and give you enough of a sense of how you can apply the knowledge to real-world applications that you should be able to decide within 100 pages whether it's for you.

After seeing the headline and the photos, I kept expecting to read that it was some sort of composite "sketch" of suspects in the DDoS attack compiled from real photos. I am not familiar with what the members of Massive Attack look like and did not make that connection. Seems like poor photo usage.

Re: painting the lock on your sliding glass door white -- this is a good tip for gun safeties as well. Put some red paint on the part that's exposed when the safety is off and then remember "red = dead."
