USB passthrough with an Startech USB PCI-E card was a bit problematic as the group was not isolated. Turned out the 2080 has a USB controller for the type C (I'm told for VR).

It's definitely a more boutique device.
My guess would be it's for the crowd looking for repair ability and control over the device.

The author provided a list of _obscure_ handhelds that you could try and get your hands on.
On that list there is the Pyra[0] which is very near completion. It has some interesting features such as a replaceable CPU board (nonstandard) for future upgrades.

More so to start a discussion on what can be done in the home today instead of a completely proprietary router.
I will be keeping my eye on this project for WWAN or site to site applications.
Thank you for the good work.

I do have one and it works perfectly with most linux distros. I use manjaro to be specific.

Apparently the phone is due in Q2 2019, though I find that unlikely.
I do have one of their laptops. I paid and got it a week later, so they have shipped things.

I bought the base model and upgraded it with 16gb of RAM (wish I could have done 32gb), 1TB NVMe, and a 1TB SATA SSD.
So far it is great. I've been using it as my daily driver for about 6 months with Manjaro. I get about 8 hours of battery life unless I'm running my Windows VM needed for some work tasks. Otherwise it's just firefox, slack-cli, thunderbird, and webstorm.

I've got a bit of interest in the handheld world, but haven't pulled the trigger on a Pyra (not a fan of pre-orders).
Also, what does RMS stand for?
stamps | 7 years ago | on: Ask HN: What discontinued company/product do you wish was still around?
Do you just use it for Age of Empires?
Have you heard of the Pyra[0]?
It's nearing completion, hardware should be final at this point. Just need the software to get a good run up.

Did some upgrades, 1TB NVMe, 2TB SSD, and 16GB of RAM.
Also do not use PureOS.
Very happy.
Mechanical and split ergonomics.
Has built in Mouse capability using the keys. They’re also working on attachable touchpad, trackball, and trackpoint (just like a thinkpad).
