Maybe Google should just add an upvote button.

on: A Chemical Hunger: Mysteries
The article pointed out a paper on an increase of 1.4% overweight horses. It does not seem to have a meaningful relationship with the steep increase of overweight population in human (~24%).

What about stress?
Elevated cortisol level induces over-eating; moreover, increases craving for high-sugar, high-fat foods.
The big change in human behavior in the last 2 decades is that now people consume more information that leads to depression, anxiety and stress.

on: LiveLeak shuts down after 15 years online
Probably a minority here - but I could not stomach the horrible comments on LiveLeak, especially because it almost seemed like they were all written by a bunch of really young audience.

on: Firefox changing its tab design
Not loving where this is going. FF on iOS was great, with icon showing the number of tabs I have opened unlike Safari. Please translate that sensible UI choices into your desktop version too.

I find that fiction books are usually more memorable than non-fiction. I also find that technical books with a story-telling structure to be more memorable.

That is a moot point to discuss. If you’re looking for the worst browser in the market however, Chrome is a strong candidate.

Celebrating my sixth year with Elixir! The adoption rates here is still quite low (Malaysia) but I'm glad to say that onboarding new Elixir developers has always been a breeze.

on: Notion is having a service interruption
Notion is about the only service today out of many other major platforms (see:
https://downdetector.com) that cared to email me about the downtime. I’ve been a happy Notion user since about a year ago and this is probably the only one time I have experienced major downtime as far as I can remember.

Those who made “mistakes” like re-implementing basic data structure or algorithm will learn much more than what compsci degree can teach them.

on: Vercel raise $40M Series B
Had to use Zeit/Vercel a few months for a “serious” project that requires SSR, caching and multiple staging environments. As the project progresses I noticed an increasing pain from constantly fighting with outdated documentations and limited configurability. I hope that’s changed now though, because there were some parts of Zeit that we loved. For simpler static sites, it’s hard to beat Netlify.

on: Document your code just by hitting “record”
Being able to automatically translate the texts would be a killer feature. It's probably outside of the scope for this product but language is quite a significant barrier for at least 80% of world population that doesn't speak English.
