Oof, this one hits home.
I lost my Dad when I was 27, he had just turned 60. Also lung cancer, also smoking since a child, also had never visited the doctor.
In the 5 years since then, I've met the love of my life, gotten engaged, and planning a family. All of this without my Dad, without his advice, without his support. It hurts, a lot. Whenever big moments in my life happen, my first instinct is always to give him a call.

The obsession with iMessage and the "blue bubble" seems to be a US only thing, no? All group chats I've ever been part of, and 99% of all other messaging, in the UK and every European country I've been in happens on WhatsApp.

This is fantastic work! Well done, I love how you were able to do it on the cheap - I think this might become my christmas break project.
Seriously, this is fantastic!

I'm not sure if this is possible at all, but perhaps detecting if the user's microphone or webcam is in use could be a good way of detecting meetings.

While I also struggle to see the value in a service like this, I think the comment regarding a grandmother and google sheets is a tad unnecessary. Sometimes people build things just because they want to, or it brings some value to them. It doesn’t have to appeal to a wider market, and that’s fine.

You’re relying on a lot of trust from your users here, if you’re the person that decides if they have kept their pledge or not. Also, not having a list of supported charities and just writing a blog post to prove where the money has gone is also asking a lot.
Instead, I would rather have your other users vote on whether a pledge was actually fulfilled, and have some better method of distributing the money to charities.

Yeah there would be absolutely no benefit to doing this other than just to be a nuisance.

I don't think you're quite answering the question they've asked.
They want to know if you're doing any domain validation for requests sent to your URL, otherwise someone could quite easily eat up their quota by sending POST requests to the URL in the form.

No, you cannot. I believe that the person you are replying to is stating the reasons for why they switched (and stayed with) i3 on Linux.

I wasn't aware there were any laptops like that, I wonder what the reason for that design choice is?

What do you mean by nose cam? I initially thought you meant "no noise" but you mention nose twice so I'm curious.

I often wonder about the experience of using an eGPU. What are the tradeoffs? I travel a bit for work now and I'd like to have a more mobile gaming setup.

It's US only currently, but they are looking at a global rollout (I'm patiently waiting in the UK).
