on: The Terrifying Lessons of a Pandemic Simulation
One of my most frustrating memories was Madagascar shutting their borders down at the first sign of disease in any other country. The bane of my teenage existence.

on: Ask HN: What is a 'full stack' website?
I think the first comment in that thread is what you're referring to. I'd hazard a guess that a "fullstack website" in this context means a site that is written entirely in Javascript (ex. React for the frontend and Node.js for the backend). The original thread question was looking for ways to improve knowledge in Javascript, so building a site entirely in that language would certainly be sufficient to give one an understanding of what you can do with it,

on: Giraffes Added to the Endangered Species List (2016)
Perhaps there is a non violent solution to this problem: turn poachers into park rangers. This has been done before[0] and perhaps could solve the problem in governments wanting to protect their wildlife (for tourism revenue) and the necessity of common people to provide for their families.

on: Ask HN: Strategies for mentoring junior developers?
As a junior dev, I've appreciated small signs that other people in the office are looking out for me and my progress. This can be anything from regular one on ones with my direct manager, to other engineers asking if I have any questions when working in a new codebase. I'm the only junior in my office, so at first it was kind of horrifying asking questions and looking for help. Since other people have been more proactive in making sure I'm set up properly I've felt a lot more confident in taking steps on my own to figure things out and I think it's helped a lot.

on: Are you ready? This is all the data Facebook and Google have on you
The full quote is:
> The word "triggered" should really be reserved for military vets AND those who have experienced traumatic events in their past that would cause severe distress
(emphasis mine)
You can't just cut a sentence in half and then try to form an argument against it. That's not fair.
