Part of me is always quite envious of people who cleanly close one chapter of their life and move on to the next.

My findings largely reflect this, but I have to admit that I stopped after about 10 projects. Now I will no longer do a KS, regardless of the product, or the founder, or the price. I'll just wait, pay full price later if it's worth it, and save myself the frustration and multiple "regrettable delay" notes.

I've often wondered if home water filters, which can filter out lots of things [0] were doing light desalination. A slight amount of salt in water is desirable in specialty water like Vichy, but I'd imagine it would be unhealthy all the time.

Quite a flawed article. To think you can shape people's watching behavior towards second-rate content is to be confused about how people actually spend their scarce time. Sure, people can use help finding things they like, but how were these large yet new creators discovered in the first place? Clearly there are mechanisms for rising to the top in each category... but perhaps there is just too much stickiness at the top?
Realistically, the largest creators are the most valuable to the places where content is consumed, so it's in the platforms' interest to keep them big and keep them being watched. These means less burden on content review. If 90% of view time goes to 1% of producers, content review a challenge. If 90% of views go to 10% of producers, now content review is a disaster. This "brand-safe" content is taken extremely seriously right now and it's not the time platforms will do anything except double down on this.

Wonderful film. One of my favorites and one of the few that I return to time and again. The music is excellent as well, as the piece points out.

Yeah, same thought. Something like the Coway air filter (
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zxiDrEnjYEo ) regularly sells for under $200, and it is going to be much quieter than this option. It also has been tested fairly extensively from what I've seen, it's EnergyStar approved, etc, and it has a built in sensor. It doesn't look too bad either.
But I understand the point, especially in times when you can't find a purifier.
Also, good video on all this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kH5APw_SLUU

Yes, exactly right. If you are going to make the jump it's smart to do it all the way. Intermittent steps will help some people, but won't always solve the RSI problem fully.

Well put and fully agreed. I don’t think engineers are in any way a special case here. In fact it can be much worse for people whose skillset is easier to replace.

I’m here for the same question so thank you. I’ve seen this “k” shape referred to a number of times now, as if it’s an obvious thing. I guess it’s a headline thing where the limitations cause all kinds of craziness and shorthand.

For me, the real growth question with Pinterest is how come they rank so well on Google? They dominate result for many image-related queries despite being a content aggregator. Everything on Pinterest inherently lives someplace else on the web, no? How come those aren’t what I’m seeing? The site seems to have become an SEO powerhouse despite - at least for me - never being the result I want.
