Unfortunately it is not your imagination, their reporting is becoming mere blogspam.
The main UK channels here seems to be somewhat decent but should be taken with a pinch of typical BBC bias, perhaps the news website is where they let their work-experience folk loose.

It's because policies are in place to prevent them from doing so, you won't get special treatment or they will be out of a job.
Without seeing the Ad data it's hard to say but Financial products have a lot of policy in place and it's not enough to be ready to provide certification, in some instances you must do this beforehand.
