on: Ask HN: Why Can't Phone Carriers Stop Spam Calls?
How is phone call spam a revenue stream for carriers? Most plans these days are unlimited calling. Under that assumption, spam calls are cost and bad customer experience.

on: Ask HN: I can't focus on one project. What should I be doing?
I am filling in some blanks here, so take my opinion with a pinch of salt.
Instead of thinking of 'Learning python' as a project, you could try thinking of 'A website (or app) that will do x' as the project.
That goal might help you get better focus and in the process learn the best tools for that project which could be Python or native app development or something else.

on: OAuth.io - OAuth that just works.
Comments on the animated UI aside, as someone who recently pulled their hair out trying to get StackOverflow oauth working, a simple solution would be extremely welcome.
My scalp shall thank you!

on: NY official: Airbnb stay illegal; host fined $2,400
The strangest part of the ruling to me was the following implication that it would have been fine if the tenant had gone into the housemate's room (not just been allowed access, as per the verbiage of the law)
"... Morrick noted that his renter did not go into Warren's housemate's room during her stay."

on: India’s elites have a ferocious sense of entitlement
There is an implied causality in this article. Being rich -> Lose empathy.
I'd be curious to know if there indeed is causality in either direction (Less empathetic people get richer) or is it just correlation masquerading as causality.

One of the best pieces I have read in a really long time.
