Jackfruit has a great, rich taste; I like it, although I don't go much for sweet foods generally (I make an exception now and then, for some). The sticky stuff between the edible parts is a bit of a turnoff, though. Not easy to get it off your hands, once on. Also, the fruit has a strong smell, but not a bad one, IMO.
You cannot eat a lot of it, since it is rather dense, though soft.
It's also one of those wonder plants, like neem, banana and coconut, with many uses.

Loss from stealing was called 'shrinkage' by retail industry people, in Sam Walton's autobiography 'Made in America'. As you say, they expected to have some. I wonder why it can't be prevented 100%.

Ha ha, yes. Seen them many times when in Mumbai. They are an "institution". IIM Ahmedabad and Harvard Business School have done case studies on them. They are supposed to be very organized and rarely make a mistake in delivery. There's even a Bollywood about them, The Lunchbox:

Hobbies, dude. Tons of interesting hobbies, available for the doing, many requiring little to no financial outlay.
And with some fields like programming, you can even do the same work post-retirement, just for fun or to teach others.

Such places - quiet, natural, rural, scenic, etc. - should really be the norm, not the exception. I am reminded of Gandhi's reply to someone (maybe a reporter) asking him "What is your opinion of civilization?"
