wmaiouiru | 2 years ago | on: Show HN: HN Resume to Jobs – AI Powered Job Matching Tailored to Your Resume

After clicking search, the scroll takes me to the first result hiding the number of jobs found and apply filters and I missed it. :D (A nice to have would be perhaps, if you apply a filter, you highlight the word of the filter applied.)

I don't think the user of the post is the most important of the post, so I would use another color to not make it pop up.

wmaiouiru | 9 years ago | on: Ask HN: Should I learn how to program, or come up with an idea first?

I would do both simultaneously and partner with someone that has experience programming and give you feedback on the idea and your programming.

Starting to learn programming from scratch would be a little bit difficult since there are so much to learn. Having an idea in mind would be your compass. Given that big picture idea, having someone to guide you to learn the area to help solve piece of the puzzle would save you lots of time. Depending on your idea, what you learn in programming might be quite different.

I wonder if kids in NYC are also taking trains to school like kids in Tokyo. On a separate note, growing up in Japan, the concept of renrakumou (telephone contact graph) was quite interesting. When there is something important from school announcement, people on this graph would traverse down the tree and contact the node to spread the word. http://oshirase.x0.com/jpg/templtes/renrakumou.jpg

wmaiouiru | 12 years ago | on: Ask HN: [Survey] One Button Automatic Video Editing Cloud Service

Thank you for the feedback. Perhaps a hybrid or other approach could accomplish this. I can either add human element to process using say using amazon mechanical turk or instead of finding the interesting contents, I would eliminate or organize repetitive contents. My biggest problem right now is finding the people besides me that would use this piece of technology and perhaps pay for it. I still have lots of videos that I would like to edit, but don't have the energy and time to do it.

wmaiouiru | 12 years ago | on: Ask HN: Idea Sunday

A cloud processing platform that would automatically edit videos for users based on algorithms. My thesis is that users will take more and more videos but the tools to edit them (adobe premiere, youtube editor etc) are too much hassle for people. The first market segment would be goPro and google glass users. Thoughts?

wmaiouiru | 12 years ago | on: Ask HN: Rejected from YC? What's your startup?

Applied, but didn't get invited for an interview.

We are creating a door to door travel itinerary search engine. (www.travelmacho.com) Currently, most of the travel website only provides you with one leg of the travel such as flights, but there is still the problem of figuring out how to get to the airport. So what the users typically do is open up multiple windows to plan their travels.

We would like to create a platform that aggregates all modes of transportation (bus, train, flight, airport shuttle, taxi etc) into one search engine. The users will be able to find the best way to travel in one website.

Let us know what you think! http://www.travelmacho.com

Great job! I have been waiting for this app for a while!

Here is some of the things I think you should improve upon:

1. The sliding UI on register page is a bit confusing. Perhaps add some UI guide tutorials? You probably know this, but I want a easy way to invite my Facebook friends!

2. Since you know the available field locations, you should show it on the map to encourage the user to make the "Create Game" UI smoother.

3. There is a lag after completing the "Create Game" form.

4. Instead of just games, where can I find out about leagues around where I live?

5. Are you thinking about having people check-in during the games?

6. This might be complicated, but I wonder if it would be worthwhile to add score keeping and gamification feature with this app, to build reputation and game records. With this record, people could challenge each other.

7. Is e-sports going to be added in the future?
