oh come on. the examples were good so far...
why would i need an app to monitor my sleep if i don't have any sleep disorder or similar? i am putting such app in the "need for attention" category.

workthrowaway | 6 years ago | on: If Logged into Facebook, Oculus VR Data Will Now Be Used for Ads
what worries me is the sampling itself. or how diverse the sample is. using VR users data to draw any conclusion is misrepresenting the larger population. now if we are all into VR or use it, this might be different...

wow, this is so intriguing. i like this analogy even if i don't know how accurate it is.

i think it's more because it does not really matter for most people. not because it's too difficult.

the author seems to suggest that one should start with an interpreter, then move to a compiler. (read the interpreter book, then read the compiler book...)
i think it really depends on what you are doing. in fact, python is a good example. it compiles to bytecode that is interpreted. it has the both compiling thing going on and then the whole VM thing. i believe java is similar. what i am trying to say is that the line is very blurry nowadays.

that's an interesting anecdote. it was the opposite experience for me. friends and i had yahoo and hotmail emails back then but no one cared about sending emails or replying to them.
yahoo messenger and msn messenger were the reason those were created. i can't recall anyone stressing about it because the person you'd be messaging was with you most of the time...
