I keep up to date with scientific news about climate change and several years ago joined Extinction Rebellion because I concluded that what I can do myself will never be enough. I give presentations about the need for action and participate in larger actions. For example, in two months we will block a highway in the Netherlands demanding the government to stop fossil fuel subsidies. This is, as always, a none violent but disruptive action. We have done this several times before and each time there seem to be approximately twice as many people, the last time approximately 8.500.

During the past years I found two answers to this question that seem plausible to me.

First, there are many myths about climate change that are believe by many [1].

Second, George Marshall investigated why 'we' don't take measures and wrote a book about it [2]. He found the problem is hard wired in our brains and caused by "our evolutionary origins, our perceptions of threats, our cognitive blind spots, our love of storytelling, our fear of death, and our deepest instincts to defend our family and tribe".
