on: Even after $100B, self-driving cars are going nowhere
Have you noticed that lately there has been a symphony of media news to bash everything related to green energy, including EVs, self driving cars, batteries and so on?
It feels like we are getting brainstormed to induce us to remove investments in this sector so that others can get in at a much lower entry point.
Is it just in my head?

This proves nothing. The gov has their own satellites with live video streaming at a much higher resolution.
What in the blog post makes you think google is an extension of gov?

My brother did faint. Before he fainted I asked him are you ok? And he started replying incoherent words, that’s when I knew something was wrong. I was quick enough to go hold him as he was dropping towards the floor like a dead weight.
Also you have to understand I had no clue if the guy was fainting or dying on the spot
Ps: feel free to downvote cause this comment isn’t bringing any value, though it brings value to me as I’m venting off my heroic act..

on: 96% iOS 14.5 App Tracking Opt-Out Rate
Not being able to track means the ads will be less relevant on average, which will decrease the app developer's ad revenue. There is a tipping point that, if reached, will force most developers to double-dip on the freemium strategy instead of ads. Ultimately users are the ones paying the price here.

true but put yourself in the shoes of the SEC. The big losers are the investors in Cheesecake Factory stock. A larger fine would affect these people even more. Maybe (a big maybe) the responsible parties should be forced to quit?

It seems once Big Sur is installed, it cannot be downgraded. Why is that? I thought it's just a software update, which should be reversible with an HD backup, or a disk image, right?

i actually asked a NOAA weather scientists about what would happen if we plant billions of tree where the winds of hurricanes root from?
He told me it's always good to plant trees BUT know that by altering the environment, chances are you will be redirecting hurricanes to other countries and be ready to get sued!

At the time of this comment, Xcode 11 is not available for downloads on the App Store, nor on the dev website.
The default xcode dev page also shows the XCode 11 as the main Xcode:

on: Tesla Insurance
this makes total sense. If Tesla cars are safer than most, then the insurance price should be lower since there would be less accidents in general and Tesla owners don't have to pay for the "less safe" cars within the same insurance umbrella.
It also makes sense for Tesla to have their own insurance company if they want to someday have "insured" self driving cars and deal with the fact that in case of accidents where cars are not driven by people but by algorithms.

First time I stumble upon this website (GenesCard). It shows how extensive the shared human knowledge is about genes and how little I know!
And also this website is full of useful data HN people can use for playing with ML. Thanks for sharing !
