Ask HN: Negotiating salary: remote position and stock options vs. cash

Getting remote job at a startup - what should be the reasonable discount for remote position (one US metropolitan area remotely working with another) and what is the general logic for calculating how the salary should be affected by the stock options? I like the remote aspect so don't mind taking a cut.

Basically if its the early stage startup - should I go with the it's funding round and be ok subtracting this from... 1 year salary? 4 year (vesting period) salary?
