Ask HN: How much should we worry about competition?

In the past 4 weeks there's suddenly a rush of apps similar to Radbox looking to market themselves as "Instapaper for videos". While we work on the iPad version, we're going to see a number of closely-timed similar apps launching next month.

If you're a two-person bootstrapping startup with a bit of traction, and find yourself in a similar situation, how do you deal with it?

You need to pay attention to the competition to see where you stand, and how you can differentiate your app from theirs, but don't lose sleep over it.

You should be the leaders and not the followers (IE: they are copying your good features rather than the other way around).

Would it be smarter to wait and see what they have, in case we need to tweak stuff (to differentiate)?
