I think a bit more info is needed! At least, an idea of what kind of shipping are we talking about (trans-oceanic? In the same country?), and maybe also what countries are we talking about.
Anecdotally, I haven't heard of any lost shipping inside west-EU. But then again, it's also up to which carrier, which kind of insurance you want on your shipping, and so on...
