Please state the location and include REMOTE, INTERNS and/or VISA when that sort of candidate is welcome. When remote work is not an option, include ONSITE.

Please only post if you personally are part of the hiring company—no recruiting firms or job boards. Only one post per company. If it isn't a household name, please explain what your company does.

Commenters: please don't reply to job posts to complain about something. It's off topic here.

Readers: please only email if you are personally interested in the job.

Unnamed Forum | San Francisco | Remote | Contract

You may know me here as the owner and founder of rsync.net.

This is not a job posting for rsync.net. Rather, I am starting a new venture that involves creating a threaded discussion software very much like what we are using right here on HN.

The full job description, which is likely to be a contract position but could evolve into a full time development position, is here:

https://kozubik.com/forumjob.html

Having written forum stuff a few times over, I’m not sure you realize what you should even ask for. We never released the last rewrite, so could sell that, but it’s old…

Once a community is started, you will spend all your time on content moderation features (less if more like HN than Reddit).

Be sure the dev separates out the messages from ordering. I just saved you a rewrite, lol.

This looks interesting but I am confused about the relationship between the open-source version and the SaaS-y for-profit version. There is lots of verbiage at the website about how the two projects share zero code, along with a none-too-subtle pitch to get potential users to go for the paid version.

Can someone knowledgeable recap the history & politics here? If I apply for and am offered a job at "screenly", am I joining a FOSS project, or a for-profit company that supports the FOSS version merely to fill their hopper for the paid product?

We are a team of engineers and energy experts working on getting our customers paid for using less energy. Our customers are energy consumers who will commit to curtailing their demand. We aggregate "curtailable" buildings into virtual power plants we sell to utilities and other buyers in wholesale energy markets, splitting the revenue with our customers. Our virtual power plants are cleaner and cheaper than coal and oil plants. Along the way, we have to solve some complex problems: - trade energy in an international patchwork of wholesale power markets - convince a wide variety of factory supervisors and building managers to cease their operations when they would rather not - make hundreds of commercial and industrial buildings behave like a single, reliable generator in every way

We're currently hiring for a wide variety of roles
