I have a PhD in optimization / operations research. I'm the father of four young children, so I'm looking for flexible/remote part-time work, and/or contract work. I can work up to around 20-30 hours per week (this varies depending on whether kids get sick, if I have other contracts, etc).
My specializations revolve around optimization and operations research---essentially, I solve optimization problems. You can give me a real-world problem and I can translate it into a mathematical model that can be solved (often optimally) via integer programming, constraint programming, or various forms of metaheuristics. I could manage my way around new solvers and programming languages if the project required it.
I'm currently working on a column generation-based daily fantasy sports (DFS) solver as a personal project. Taking as input the predictions/requirements of the user, this solver can generate optimal lineups for multi-entry tourneys. It is, as far as I am aware, the only DFS solver that can generate provably optimal sets of lineups for multi-entry DFS tourneys.

The digital marketing world has become complacent and too cozy charging obscene fees to business owners. It is too frequently that I speak to modest business owners spending ~$4k/month here in LA for all their digital needs combined to bring in more business. Not including what they actually spend on ads...
This is where I see an opportunity. Could you not charge $2000/month for everything all included? A small lean team of 2-3 skilled people can comfortably handle 15 client websites, social media, and advertising campaigns. It's really not a lot of work. This is what I'm on a mission to confirm.
I am starting a successful marketing agency and need a web developer or two. I have 6+ clients ready to sign (far more prospects) and we could probably get to around $10-20k/month revenue within a few months depending on execution.
