Willing to relocate: yes, to any location in Africa, where i can get the necessary permission to live and work.
Technologies: Linux, Fullstack, System Administration.
Résumé/CV: on request (software development, CTO, mentoring, training, fluent in English and German)
Like a recent Ask HN: Recommend employers with positive social impact [https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=31518945], I am looking for similar work. I am a European software developer who has lived and worked on four continents. Now it's time to move on and so i am looking to relocate to Africa.
While i could find a job elsewhere i believe that the experience living in an area where my work is going to have an impact gives me a better understanding of the needs of the location i am serving. Whether it is through direct contact with clients and users or just by being part of a local community and learning about the reality of living there.
I have more than a decade of experience running a company, doing software development, support and training and mentoring adults and students, as well as working on educational projects, and i am willing to take on a mixture of roles as needed to support a project.
I am willing to consider a volunteer position if a visa can be arranged.
My unique enterprise-grade approach provides clients with long-lasting solutions that address future growth, HA, security, reliability and operational processes.
My expertise is based on 30 years of hands-on technical experience in all areas of IT, but particularly in architecting, building and managing data-driven enterprise platforms.
Recent examples of my work:
- Organisational-level DevOps tooling and security implementations
- Disaster recovery (vm to regional-level scenarios) design and implementation
- Global Azure infrastructure architecture design, deployment, management and security
- Productionalising Kafka and Confluent Connect clusters (SSL, SASL, ACLs, Debezium)
- Tracking down performance bottlenecks in Elasticsearch and Solr
- Refactoring of complex Java-based containerised applications
- Validation of greenfield project designs
- Single-pane-of-glass dashboard design in Datadog, Splunk and Azure
- Deploying a custom global, multi-cloud, Kubernetes-based PaaS (AWS and Azure)
Technologies: React, React Native & Node.JS development with JavaScript and TypeScript. Python, Pytorch for Machine Learning. My dream stack which I LOVE working with is Next.js + tRPC + Prisma and PostgreSQL
Résumé/CV: I have a masters in computer science, with a thesis in deep learning.
Hey! I have over six years of professional experience in Frontend development. I have been a cofounder of a software agency for over two years. I love working with UI and UX and fixing the business logic of the apps. I'm a problem solver. I have worked mostly with the US, UK, IE, and DE clients.
I have managed small teams of FE/BE devs.

SEEKING WORK | REMOTE ONLY | Freelancer/Contractor | DevOps Services
- Location: Rajkot, Gujarat, India (Currently UTC +5:30 timezone)

- Programming/scripting: Python / Shell
- Certifications: Solution Architect Associate (AWS-SAA)
Infrastructure Engg. with 7 years experience. I currently specialize in AWS app/service deployment. I can help you build, deploy and maintain scalable services using various cloud platforms with industry standards and best security practices. I have also worked previously with Laravel / MySql / Mongodb.
We're developing a vocal language between dogs & people using ML to analyze barks to decipher which ones convey meaning. We've spent the last few years understanding how to iterate on interspecies communication. We're looking for someone who deeply understands audio data and a huge plus if you've done work with non-human audio datasets.
Working on a new app design and new features to improve adding barks to our corpus.
I have been refining a platform I have built for some time now and am looking for clients to use it. It could be considered 'GIS in a box'. It consists of a Hasura based GraphQL Postgres and GIS backend, with React in combination with Deck.gl on the front end.
Having worked at many start ups and GIS shops and seen their attempts to build out their platforms, I have seen various mistakes, duplicated effort, incorrect architecture, limited testing environments. My stack solves all of these, and I come with a lot of expertise in how to design a front end to convey the 'data story' your product is trying to tell.
The stack is a CDK based, one click to deploy, multi stage set up. A particularly nice feature is Hasura's database deployment scripts, allowing database changes to be committed. Also out of the box, it allows tight permissioning, performant SQL etc. It has taken me a long long time to get this far and end up with a fully working stack.
Thinking more about the frontend, I have got to a place where I have a large library of abstracted Deck.gl solutions that I have worked on. I am strong React developer, and typically use Ant Design or Mantine for UI, and I have contacts that can help make your app look beautiful very quickly.
I am looking for clients in the GIS space who need a backend and front end out of the box, along with training and development offered. I genuinely feel that my offering here will allow you to focus on solving the business case your start up was for, instead of wasting time on repeating solved problems.

When it comes to collaboration I have a coaching mindset which means I am open-minded, curious, flexible and client-centered.
I've worked with startup teams and enterprise clients. My work was pivotal for one of my startup clients being acquired. I continued to work with them post-acquisition, scaling what was initially a small MVP into a product that serves tens of thousands of users to this day.
More recently I shared my passion project, a progressive web app that I used for tracking my progress across a 5-day backpacking trip https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=33420852
