Your argument cuts both ways - why not just have a bot that likes and comments on the videos that you want to push. So now by your logic, we should BAN all likes and comments. So now nothing means anything, and YouTube will just tell us if a video is good or not.
Doesn't sound like a great plan. How about Google re-instates the Dislike button and works harder to filter out the bots. i.e. Don't harm the product and the UX.

I respectfully disagree. Morals matter. Your point is like saying, "if you don't like the printing press/hydrogen bomb/automobile, then just don't use it.".
YouTube is an integral part of sharing information, and the like/dislike ratio is a crucial yardstick of if the content is trustworthy. 95% of the content is not bullsh*t in my mind, and if it is, then why not have the dislike button anyway?

Not at all. Youtube content moderation is not intended for things like content quality, only for egregious breaches of YouTube policy like harassment, abuse, or hate speech.
If a guy in the video says "bend your foot at the ankle all the down until you hear a loud pop and feel something give", then reporting the video will do nothing. Downvoting it will inform other users that this is maybe not a good idea.

I respectfully disagree. The dislike button definitely had value. You cannot read 10,000 comments on a video with 1.5 million views. Like/Dislike ratio was a fast way to ascertain quality. Maybe it was incorrect 20% of the time (and I'm being generous there), but even that means that it was helpful 80% of the time.
And according to your logic, the Like button is also useless and should be deleted as well, since you can equally have a mob of people hitting it without really "liking" the video. The same is true of the comments.

Does this really matter? Australia passed the "Identify and Disrupt" Law, which allows them as well as any government in the The Five Eyes (FVEY) international security pact to access and modify all digital communications - so why would this story even be important? This is our new world, where any government can access and modify any digital information.

Ehhhh...... that just makes me feel so uneasy. Things like npm should ideally be maintained by the community or its own organisation. It's too tempting for a big corp like Microsoft to add their own little bits to listed packages here and there. :\\\\\\

They said they feel immense pressure not to say anything negative, and that they feel they have been silenced. They're not even allowed to ask basic questions about the vaccine as part of their work, even tho that's what they do for a living.

They both said they feel immense pressure not to speak out against the vaccine or publish anything against it. So the regular channels of dissent have been removed.

Scientist #1 said that if she mentions anything against the vaccine, there would be retribution against her. This includes publishing any data that detracts from the vaccines safety. They're essentially creating an echo chamber where all news about the vaccine is good news.

Pfizer. She said she doesn't know what's really in it, or how it performs transfers, what lipids it uses, etc.

The first scientist told me that practically no non-Pfizer labs have looked at it. That is not robust. Usually this stuff gets reviewed by everyone, but in this case, technical info is not available to other scientists who wish to learn more about the vaccine - according to her.

Recently I spoke with two senior scientists with decades of experience who specialise in pharmacology, biology, and vaccines, who both work at high-level labs that inspect all types of drugs.
They both were extremely sceptical of the vaccine, with one being openly antagonistic towards it.
YouTube's new rules allow them to post content, but they both say they've been warned by their jobs about speaking out - that they will lose their careers if they say anything against the vaccines.
Where is the room for their opinion? Because they are the top of the tree scientifically. What the hell is going on when we are silencing senior scientists who are extremely worried about an experimental drug that we're giving to the entire world??!
To clarify - the first scientist told me that her lab is not allowed to look at or test the vaccine, even though they test every other drug that comes into the country. She has only found a report from one other non-Pfizer lab that has looked at it under a microscope. To me, that is really scary.
