on: What's Accenture? (2020)
This is a good thing IMO. Accenture and the other body shops are a giant wealth redistribution machine. Its selfish to think that only FAANG employees should hold all the wealth. Let it trickle down to other less equal humans too.

People choosing Quebec to immigrate must be either fluent in French or stupid. Quebec immigration is perhaps one of the most arcane system and politically influenced. To compare it only takes 4 or 6 months to get a PR in rest of Canada if you have the right skills. In Quebec, even if you have the right skills and speaks French, it takes a minimum of 2 years if the red tape allows. If you do not know French with the right skills 3 to 4 years.

Can’t know this by looking at it from the outside. A renter or even a buyer gets so little time to analyze what’s underneath the flooring or inside the common walls. I do not know if one can request the materials and blueprint of a condo before buying it.

I don’t think they will put up with these issues and live there like the rest of us. They are only concerned about the property value going down.

I completely agree. The very old buildings in Montreal are soundproof. But the new “optimized” condos coming up have thin concrete floors(the bare minimum code) and the common walls are also soundproofed to the bare minimum code I think STC 50 if I remember.

Call me crazy but when I rent a condo, I try google street maps and go back in history and if I am lucky I get to see the construction phase. That will give an idea about how thick the concrete and the overall structure is. Another way is to look at the balconies. The floor will be as thick as balconies. The walls are a hit or miss. But if you knock on them and press your ears you can get some idea. Apartments near to a garbage chute or elevator will be noisy if not properly soundproofed.

and $1.77 billion for its airline customers. Justice served. Now Boeing can rinse and repeat not to mention bail out from tax payers if there is a need to be. So who went to jail for this ? I know that if I steal from Walmart, I will be arrested and possibly get jail time.

on: Poll: Switching from WhatsApp
Have to keep in mind that WhatsApp's customer base is not the western world, but mainly growing economies like India and African countries. WhatsApp recently rolled out Payments feature in India. In fact WhatsApp for Business is pretty good for SME to conduct business in India. Some of the shops that I went to India has paperless receipts and digital payments thru WhatsApp and UPI. They ask your WhatsApp number by default and sends you the receipt on WhatsApp. I find that very convenient as a customer. The horse has left the barn. Good luck asking people to switch to Signal or Telegram there. Switching to others will only help in making a political statement but wont help in mass adoption at least in those countries.
