on: EU lawmakers slam “radical proposal“ to let ISPs demand new fees from websites
"statements to the press indicate that a new provision would require payments from online service providers to broadband providers—ostensibly to fund the rollout of 5G and fiber to the home”
One could argue that the broadband provider should be the one paying for the infrastructure to …provide broadband

on: UK four-day week pilot begins: employees get 100% of the pay for 80% of the time
Great question!
4 days of stress was definitely better than 5 days of stress as I felt more recharged after the 3 day weekend. Also my output didn’t drop as I was feel less burnt out.
My original comment still stands though, a stress free 5 days is much better overall than the stressful 4

on: UK four-day week pilot begins: employees get 100% of the pay for 80% of the time
Having worked a 4 day work week for 100% pay for 6 months in my previous job, I would rather work a low stress job for 5 days than a stressful job for 4 days

on: Instagram Account Hacked – Phishing
Literally this exact same thing happened to a close friend of mine 1 month ago. All links to recovery information didn’t solve the issue and support seemed unable to do anything due to the email and phone number being changed.
My suggestion is to back up all your photos as quickly as possible, there are tools on GitHub for this. If your account was private you will need to get someone already follows you to help.
Unfortunately it is very unlikely you will get your account back

on: Tether Withdrawals Top $10B
Since Tether is a stable coin™ allegedly backed by and pegged to the price of 1 USD.
So if the price is still $1 but the circulation has gone down by 10 billion, that means $10B worth of it has been cached out

on: Google critiqued the practice of displaying ads above search results
This headline is misleading, the image in this tweet says you can't buy better search placement. Ads shown at Google are labelled as ads, the person is not buying a better search result placement. I do say this ignoring the fact that Google's labelling of ads has been getting more and more subtle over time but that is a separate unrelated issue.
This seems to be another attempt of generating hype around "google bad"
