Wondering if you took a look at or took some inspiration from the packet structures for TWAMP/TWAMP-LITE/SDLM RFCs for round trip times/packet loss measurements or if you sort of winged it and came up with your own. I've been meaning to learn rust by implementing those protocols.

I wonder if having even the lesser used stuff like restaurants, gas stations etc. on the main screen has to do with people using the maps app directly while driving instead of android auto. Burying those in the app might not be wise.

Humor and a great blog design, made my day.

Please explain this to people who invade my personal life, establish an "identity" of their choosing with labels for me, and never reconsider their decision. E.g. how do i stop certain people from telling everyone else that i don't like travelling, when in fact i do like to travel, just not with them? sigh

> Also, if you ever find yourself feeling like the "smartest in the room" it's time to start worrying. You are not going to learn anything in that situation unless you are a very special kind of person.

I typically sit in an empty room, making me the smartest in the room by default. So im curious to know what you mean by "a very special kind of person", maybe itll help me learn better.

> The idea (proposed by Adi Shamir – the A of RSA! – in 1979) is as simple as it is beautiful.

Adi Shamir is the S in RSA. The A is Adleman.

Agreed. Went to watch Mission Impossible, i pulled out my phone once right at the beginning to put it on silent. My friend might have checked his phone three times for any texts/time maybe.

All I'd like to add to this conversation is a request to not treat all humans as "the average human" as deduced by any scientific study.

booboofixer | 2 years ago | on: Privacy: One of the Most Fundamental Human Rights, yet Constantly Under Threat

In the discussion of losing privacy we focus on the social freedoms lost as a result of loss of privacy. I agree with all of those arguments but missing from these discussions are the economic freedoms we might lose.

People like to portray their least favorite countries as being engaged in corporate espionage in other developed countries, but what stops your favorite big corp from stealing what you create? Going forward, the value of eyeballs on ads might not be much compared to the value of business ideas, strategies etc. a corporation can access by violating your privacy.

Think of it this way: If you are a business owner, how successful would your business be if every second of the day, your fierce competitors had access to all your phone calls, texts, google docs, spreadsheets etc.? What if your competitor is already established with much more resources to create and get to market before you can?

Google Maps could write a similar blog post, although it wouldn't be a long one. Here's what you can do to see something similar:

- Pick a muslim country

- Find a sports venue / field / track in google maps close to population centers

- Scroll down to see if it's busy

It will say "busier than usual" for all hours of the evening after people break their fast, for the whole month. Warrants a bit of tweaking of their algorithms?
