Im not sure why George Osborne is going to talk about self-driving trucks in the Budget speech... Is he dropping phat-stacks of the budget on this programme to make the two related somehow?

Do you have some evidence to support any of this? Sounds like a collection of easy to repeat lines... I say this because I have actually tried to get a homeless person into a shelter once, only to be told that half them were closed down due to funding cuts, the rest needed a lengthy referral procedure or a £20 payment for the night - aka a normal hostel. And all this was possible because I had a smartphone on me with internet to look up and call various places. A homeless person without such access has very little chance!

This article strikes me more of an ode to Ferrari then factually correct info on why turbos are bad. As many have mentioned technology can be used to iron out the pitfalls of the turbo boost, perhaps Ferrari engineers feel the pressure from Maclaren's new turbo fleet and need to justify their failure ;)

Hello, im currently freelancing after coming back to UK, but looking for something interesting to do. Would love to work on audio stuff for the web, combines my love for music and technology.

I have largely been building web based systems, from straight up apps to various data processing and acquisition systems for back end services.

I specialise in building system which make people happy, rather than sweat over side-effects in my functions (which is awesome as well!) - this I believe makes me great for front end work and MVP projects.

Really though, as long as we make cool new things and take pride in our work - who cares what we build!

I am moving back to UK in a couple of months and looking for a new job, currently I have about 15 hours a week available but when I move back will be more. I love solving problems in creative ways, to me programming is an art form and I strive for perfection in function and form.

No worries :) I have been trying to find some music on netlabel scene for a while and alot of it is not suitable for this (people really love producing minimal techno!). I came across Cut which don't have much in the catalogue but its very well made. Will have to have another search around, music as you said is very important for this.

Thanks for all the feedback, i have been very anxious after posting it out there so its great to get something back, especially helpful comments like yours :)

Hey, i am the developer. Yeah the music is abit narrow in genre but good music is hard to come by, especially without hefty licensing fees. In time this problem will go away :)

Yeah, definitely agree on the keyboard and midi controller. I am a solo developer of this project and i really wanted to get it out there so have not included alot of stuff i would like to! Again its all just a function of time!

adaline | 14 years ago | on: Ask HN: (Backend) coders, did you learn web design? If yes, how?

Every time design questions come up, design is made out to be some kind of mythical force people ether have or don't. Well that is not the case, design is a discipline like any other and can be thought to anyone willing, just like maths. The mythical force people see as design is what's called art, and is a highly subjective process based on feelings and emotioms, where as design is a logical progression from raw data to workable interface.
